This Friday thru Sunday, Animal Compassion Team (ACT) is partnering with Fresno Humane Animal Services (FHAS) to offer half off adoptions & reclaims on any large breed adult dog in either of the two shelters. ACT is even opening up Friday, July 5th to do a special adoption day from 11 to 4 pm because they understand the local shelters are inundated with lost dogs due to the fireworks and they want to help! Every dog adopted opens up space for a lost dog to be housed safely during this scary time. If you can not adopt, consider fostering a dog or sponsoring an adoption; this will lighten the burden felt from reduced fees and crowded shelters.

ACT will be open: Fri 11 am - 4 pm; Sat 11 am - 4 pm & Sun 11 am to 4 pm

Animal Compassion Team: 2789 S. Orange Ave. Fresno, CA 93725 near Jensen & 99.

Fresno Humane will be open: Fri 10 am - 4 pm; Sat 10 am - 4 pm & Closed Sunday

FHAS: 760 W. Nielsen Ave. Fresno, CA 93706 just South of the Chaffee Zoo near Belmont & Pacific.

Petsmart River Park Adoption Hours: Fri 2 pm to 6 pm; Sat 11 am to 3 pm & Sun 11 am to 2 pm.

Petsmart: 7512 N. Blackstone Ave. Fresno, CA 93720 in the Target Shopping Center.

How can the public help? Keep your pets inside the entire 4th of July week because the fireworks aren't just frightening our pets on the 4th. If you find a dog, get it scanned for a microchip at any pet store, veterinarian or shelter and hold onto it. Post found flyers in your neighborhood and fill out found reports at your local shelters and The Fresno Bee. Also, check out the several Facebook pages dedicated to lost & found pets.

This can save lives as the local shelters will be the most impacted by this week's festivities.
