Q: Is Fresno Humane Animal Services taking in city strays now?
A: Yes, as of July 1st, 2022 Fresno Animal Center (5277 E Airways Blvd) will be accepting stray dogs and sick/injured cats from the City of Fresno. Fresno Humane Animal Services (1510 W Dan Ronquillo will continue to accept stray dogs and sick/injured cats from unincorporated Fresno County.
Q: Will the CCSPCA be taking in stray pets?
A: As of July 1st, they are no longer contracted to take in stray pets from Fresno City or Fresno County. All stray pets from those areas will now go to Fresno Humane Animal Services.
Q: Where is your shelter located?
A: Fresno Humane County shelter at 1510 Dan Ronquillo Drive Fresno, CA 93706 will provide services for Fresno County pets. Fresno Animal Center City shelter at 5277 E Airways Blvd Fresno, CA 93727 will provide services for Fresno City’s pets.
Q: I found a stray pet, where do I take it?
A: If you found the pet in Fresno City, you will take the pet to 5227 E Airways Blvd in Fresno which is near the Fresno Airport. If you found the pet in Fresno County, you will take it to 1510 Dan Ronquillo Drive in Fresno which is near the Fresno Chaffee Zoo. If you are not sure about the jurisdiction for the pet you found, please call or text 559-600-7387 and we will be happy to let you know which shelter to take the pet you have found to.
Q: Are the same people in charge of both locations?
A: Both shelters will be run by Fresno Humane Animal Services. The leadership team will oversee both locations. Some staff members will work exclusively at one location, while others will be at both locations.
Q: Where do I go to adopt?
A: You can visit our website at http://www.fresnohumane.org to view all adoptable pets at both locations. You can also come down to either (or both) locations. Fresno Animal Center (City) is open Friday-Wednesday 10am - 4pm (Closed Thursdays). Fresno Humane (County) is open Monday - Saturday, 10am-4pm.
Q: Will you be working with rescues?
A: Most definitely! If you are already signed up as a valued rescue transfer partner with Fresno Humane, you will be able to rescue dogs from both shelters (no need for any further action to pull pets from the Fresno City shelter).
